I know Seth MacFarlane shares writing credit for Ted, but this is still his teddy. As such, the movie is loaded with some inspired hysterical moments, but is occasionally let down by Seth’s propensity for mean-spirited humor. A high concept idea like this usually falls flat when the focus of the film (Ted) isn’t in the shot. This is not the case with Ted. Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis are really good together, and the script has plenty of sharp witty dialog for everyone.
This is a Seth MacFarlane production. If you’re a fan of his work (Family Guy) you’re not going to be disappointed with this. By that same token however. If you find Seth’s occasionally mean-spirited, and politically incorrect humor offensive. You should probably stay clear of this one.
Best viewing format:
This is hilarious, so a crowded theater would be great. Failing that. This isn’t a visual feast, so a regular DVD or streaming show will work. Especially with some friends, snacks and maybe a few brews.
Best moments for me: << Spoilers! >>
When Ted is demonstrating how a girl from Boston has an orgasm – that’s funny! When John (Mark Wahlberg) and Lori (Mila Kunis) are cleaning up poop in the apartment – that’s funny! Oh, and the fight between Ted and John – OMG that’s classic!
