When researching this movie I found it had several release dates between September 2009 and September 2012. A film that for some reason didn’t just want to crawl back into the dark hole it sprang from. This is a tepid story about kids facing their fears, and it’s about 25 years too late. The script lacks spark, and the young cast just didn’t have the tools to create more out of the material they were given. I guess it’s meant to be a nostalgic old school horror, but honestly if there was a need for that, why not just re-release Gremlins. A far far better Joe Dante film.
I think the only age group that might find this remotely scary would be younger kids around 10 years old. Older that that and this old school horror film just isn’t going to provide any thrills. If you’re going to see this, remember this came from the guy who gave us Gremlins and Small Soldiers, and expect something similar only not nearly as good.
