Zootopia is part buddy cop story, and part social commentary. Setting up a great new world for Disney to explore and exploit. A film that delivers a clarion call for sanity amidst a topical story about tolerance and empowerment. Kids will love the characters and state of the art animation, parents will appreciate the positive message and great humor. Zootopia is a big win win!
There really is very little wrong with this film. I had a couple of minor quibbles with some of the convenient turns in the plot, and the movie was perhaps 10 or 15 minutes overlong. But other than that, I would heartily recommend you see this film. Its disarming characters are a joy to spend time with, and the world in which they live is loaded with variety and neat ideas.
There’s something for almost everyone in Zootopia. If you think Donald Trump would make a great president, you’ll likely write this tale of inclusion off as some ‘lefty’ plot to brainwash children. If that’s the case, you should probably stay home and watch Red Dawn, again.
Zootopia’s state of the art animation needs to be seen in a theater. If you wait for the rental, make sure you get the HD version to watch on a nice big TV. A film this well rendered shouldn’t be viewed on a laptop, tablet or phone.
The entire scene inside the DMV with the sloths it hilarious. Well, hilarious to everyone except folks who work for the DMV probably!
